THE CURRICULUM
Progressive Classwork
The Adventurer curriculum is divided into four levels. The Busy Bee level is designed for first-graders; the Sunbeam level for second-graders; the Builder for third-graders; and the Helping Hand level for fourth-graders. Each level builds on the levels which came before it and is especially designed to interest, challenge, and provide successful experiences for children of that grade level. Additional classroom resources are available.
There are several content threads that are woven through the curriculum. Each class will address these in an age-appropriate way, with increasing depth to their knowledge as the children advance to the next class.
The core areas are:
My God
Through reading, class activities and crafts, field trips, and limited home work, each child will meet the requirements for his/her grade in each of the listed areas.
In addition to class requirements, there are club activities that involve earning other awards, making crafts, camping, and serving the church and community.
We want the children to succeed so we will do everything possible to assist a child in completing the requirements for investiture in his/her class. However, since responsibility is one of the core values we seek to instill, all requirements must be met in order to receive the class pin.
There is no requirement that a child complete any of the previous classes in order to register for the class appropriate for his/her grade level. We welcome new members to the club, and encourage those who did not participate fully in previous years to come back and achieve success this time.
Adventurer Awards
The goal of teaching Adventurer awards is to help each child experience achievement and to learn new activities and ideas in an interesting and fun way.
Adventurer Family Network
Adventuring involves the whole family. The program aims to strengthen the parent/child relationship as well as to further the child?s development in spiritual, physical, mental, and social areas.
